What to know about winter break at Towson University

Some key information about staying safe, moving out and being informed while being away from campus

Towson University will be officially closed for winter break starting Thursday, Dec. 23, and will reopen on Monday, January 3, which is the start of winter minimester.

The spring 2022 academic term is scheduled to begin on January 31.

As Towson University gets ready to for the new year, here is some key information for students to know.

Campus Activity

  • Final exams for the fall 2021 term moved to a virtual modality beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 17. For more information, including times and dates for exams, check the Registrar’s Office final exam schedule.

  • All dining hall services moved to carry-out/grab-and go services, effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 17. For students staying on campus during winter break, West Village Dining Hall will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all days except December 25.

  • Towson University’s shuttle service will shut down for the holiday break, with routes ending either Dec 21 or Dec. 22.

    Off-campus routes will resume on January 3, while on-campus routes will resume when the spring term begins. For the complete shuttle schedule, check out the Shuttle Services website.

Housing and Residence Life

  • Students must leave their residence hall by Wednesday, December 22 at 9 a.m., unless they have already made accommodations to stay on campus for the winter break.

  • Move-in for the spring 2022 academic term begins on Monday, January 24, with new student orientation taking place that week. The spring term is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 31. Updates about move-in and the spring academic term will be provided through Towson University emails.

COVID-19 Reporting

  • It is important to report any COVID-19 symptoms or exposures to infected individuals. Always report by filling out the Tigers Care QuickScanimmediately — regardless of your vaccination status. Completing a QuickScan prompts a response process through the University Health Center and begins the contact tracing process in partnership with the Baltimore County Department of Health.

  • Those who remain unvaccinated are urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible to reduce the risk of serious illness or hospitalization.

Stay Informed

When weather or other conditions warrant a delaying opening or closing campus early/all day, an announcement will be made through multiple channels, including a campus-wide email, a text alert and updates on social media and the Towson University homepage.

Here are the ways that students can stay up-to-date with what’s happening at Towson University.

  • Sign up for Towson University text alerts. TU is moving to automatically enroll all members of the campus community in the text alert system in the near future, and you should confirm your mobile phone number in order to assure you get the alerts.   • Students shouldn’t forget to occasionally check their emails over break. All campus communications will be sent to Towson University email accounts.
