By the sounds and excitement coming out of Johnny Unitas® Stadium this summer, Towson University is ready for some football.

There are some changes in store this season for the program. New opponents joining the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), changes coming to Unitas Stadium and fun, new additions coming to the TU game day experience.

Pushing this forward is someone else who is new to TU—first-year athletic director Steve Eigenbrot. Coming from the University of South Carolina, he has a passion for football. And what’s he’s seen so far has him excited to get the season underway.

"After watching our guys practice and talking to Coach Ambrose, I am really excited," Eigenbrot says. "I might be new to Towson, but with many new faces on the roster, really no one knows what we are going to see Sept. 3, so it will be exciting for all of us. We are going to make the experience around the game a little different this fall. Rob [Ambrose] and his team are going to do their part to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time watching the Tigers on the field."

The Tigers started the season 1-0 with a 14-13 overtime win on the road against Bucknell. With their first home game against local rival Morgan State, here is what fans need to know when entering Unitas Stadium.

Gameday Experience

TU Athletics has also upped its gameday experience throughout the stadium.

Beer sales will be added to the concession stands for football and men's lacrosse games at Unitas Stadium as well as the ticketed events held inside SECU Arena: men's and women's basketball, volleyball and gymnastics. The new option for attendees 21-and-over brings Towson's events in line with other professional and Division I collegiate sporting events in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The gameday experience will also include a hospitality area behind the east end zone, sponsored by C&R Pub. The tent opens 90 minutes prior to kickoff and available to all fans free of charge and will be accessible from both the North and South stands while offering food and drink specials as well as an up-close view of on-field action.

"We are thrilled to be adding some new experiences to our gameday atmosphere this fall," Eigenbrot says. "These improvements enhance our ability to continue growing events we host in a Greater Baltimore region full of so many great entertainment options.

"New hospitality options, expanding beer sales, new options to reserve parking – they're important parts of the fan experience and should pave a path for Towson Athletics to integrate more with our surrounding communities and drive support for our student-athletes."
