Staff Senate
The Towson University Staff Senate (TUSS) is the advocate body for all university staff employees. Through its advisory role with the university administration, TUSS seeks to further the prominence of the university by promoting the value and talents of its staff employees.
Now recognized as the Towson University Staff Senate (TUSS), our roots go back to 1993, when as a result of strong campus-wide interest, the Staff Council was formed by the president. Initially formed to serve as an advisory body to the president's staff on non-faculty matters, the Senate is now a recognized shared governance body of the university that offers all staff employees an opportunity to express ideas and concerns and provides a means for assessing campus opinion on important staff issues. It further means to act as a communication channel between the president and the university staff, and to advise on matters relating to staff, the work environment, and the general welfare of the university as a whole.

TU Staff Senate Senator Nomination FormImportant Changes for the 2025 TUSS General Election:
This year’s election process features two significant changes; detailed below.
Change 1: The Nomination Form
This year’s nomination form is on DocuSign. You may self-nominate or nominate a co-worker using this form. If you self-nominate, you will enter your name and email address as the nominator and the nominee, then you will receive an email from DocuSign to complete the nomination form as the nominee.
When you are completing your nomination form, you will provide your nomination statement to be featured on the ballot. You will also have a choice to run either only in the Divisional round, or in both the Divisional and At-Large round. More information on that in change 2.
DocuSign emails may not be instantaneous and as such there may be a delay between submitting as the nominator and receiving the email to complete the form as nominee. It is possible you may receive multiple nominations. If you have already accepted or declined a previous nomination for this election, please decline to sign this form.
Change 2: The Order of Election
This year’s election will be a two-round election.
The first round will be for Divisional seats. Staff members in University Advancement, Administration and Finance, Operations and HR, Executive Division, Athletics, General Counsel, Inclusion and Institutional Equity, and Student Affairs will vote to fill vacancies in their divisions. Other divisions will not receive a ballot until the at-large election round and no at-large seats will be decided in round one. Those not seated in the divisional round and who did not select “Accept Nomination - Divisional Only” will automatically move to the at-large round.
The second round will be the at-large round. All eligible staff members will receive a ballot to vote for at-large exempt and non-exempt senators, as well as a senator representing contingent employees.
With this change, we want to stress that staff will be voting on two separate ballots, at two different times, so please follow TU Today for updates and check your email. Ballots will come from Qualtrics as they have in prior years.
