Professional Licensure Programs
Towson University offers various programs (which are listed below) that meet the degree requirements for professional licensure/certification in Maryland.
Individuals may be able to graduate from one of TU's programs then go to another state and be eligible for professional licensure/certification if they meet all of the other requirements besides the degree. However, TU is unable to guarantee this. States may include additional requirements for professional licensure/certification beyond the educational requirements. These additional requirements may include examinations, work experience, security background checks, and other requirements specific to that state. In some cases, there exists reciprocity agreements between Maryland and other states. These agreements allow individuals who hold a professional licensure/certification in one state to earn professional license/certification in another state, subject to meeting state-specific requirements. Most states have policies to extend reciprocity for certain professional licenses/certifications, but few states provide full reciprocity for all fully licensed/certified professionals from other states.
The programs listed below are designed to meet professional licensure/certification requirements in Maryland only and may not meet requirements from other states or jurisdictions. Federal regulations 34 CFR 668.14(b)(32) governing professional licensure/certification programs require institutions to disclose whether they "Meet or "Do not Meet" the licensure/certification requirements of each state, territory, or district. At this time, TU is "Unable to Determine" whether the degree programs listed below meet the degree requirements for professional licensure/certification in any state or jurisdiction other than Maryland.
Since the requirements for professional licensure/certification vary across states and states frequently change their professional licensure/certification regulations with limited notification, before begining any academic program, TU highly recommends that applicants/potential students contact the appropriate state licensing board where they wish to seek professional licensure/certification to determine whether the intended program will meet that state's requirements.
Completion of a TU degree program does not guarantee employment in any profession. Prior to enrollment, students are responsible for confirming all education, testing, and licensing requirements in their chosen field.
