About the Seminar

Our four-day program is made possible through a partnership between TU’s Department of Dance and Community Dance Center, as well as the Ruth Page School of Dance in Chicago to highlight the distinct Cuban ballet methodology.

The Cuban National Ballet School is renowned for its stellar technical training. The teaching seminar allows participants to meet and learn from two distinguished master teachers in the art of the Cuban National Ballet School methodology. The Cuban National Ballet School curriculum consists of eight years starting at age 8 through age 18. Each year, the teaching seminar will focus on one of the eight training years for participants to understand fully the established structure and system of knowledge built within the curriculum.

As constructed by Master Teacher, Tania Suarez, the methodology of the teachings of the Cuban National Ballet School brings together the positions, steps, and exercises that make-up the academic dance and its particular technical expressive characteristics. The teaching seminar guides participants in the teaching-learning process of the Cuban National Ballet School's technical, musical, rhythmic, and expressive foundations.
