Sam Munk
“I never seriously looked into TU because I was intent on studying out of state,” says business administration major Sam Munk. “But Towson University has amazing marketing professors. In fact they are the best professors I have ever had.”
“Once there was a way to get back homeward. Once there was a way to get back home.” Those lyrics, from Samuel Munk’s favorite Beatles’ song (Abbey Road, side B medley), are meaningful. Munk, a business administration major with a concentration in marketing, grew up in Towson, left, and found his way back home after several years studying out of state.
After graduation, Munk plans to take time off from education before considering graduate school. Volunteering is an appealing option. “I volunteered in Tanzania, and that was quite an experience, so I might consider AmeriCorps or the Peace Corps.”
Munk was inspired to volunteer for a month teaching English and math to children in a Tanzanian orphanage. He laughingly says he was in way over his head with the 9- to 11-year-olds in his class. But the confidence and global awareness he gained with his solo volunteer adventure opened his eyes to new opportunities.
Now focused on finishing school and searching for a summer internship in social media and marketing, Munk says he would eventually like a job that involves promoting products online. But not quite yet. He still has a bit of wandering to do before he settles down with a career.
