Adjunct Faculty Employment

The Department of Nursing regularly seeks adjunct faculty members to teach didactic (classroom or online) courses, clinical courses, labs, and simulations for our undergraduate and graduate programs.

Minimum requirements for didactic instruction:

  • A master’s degree in nursing from an accredited university or college is required. A terminal degree is preferred. Official transcript of highest degree achieved required.
  • Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse or permission from the department chairperson.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in the practice of professional nursing.
  • Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Certification in specialty area desirable.
  • Competency in assigned area of teaching is mandatory.
  • Online teaching: Before teaching online, all faculty members are required to complete training through the Faculty Academic Center of Excellence at Towson (FACET). The FACET training is designed to streamline online course development and ensure course accessibility.

Minimum requirements for clinical instruction:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing to teach undergraduate clinical courses, master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of a Master of Science degree in nursing to teach graduate courses. Official transcript of highest degree achieved required.
  • Must have a current CPR certification.
  • Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional nursing experience in the specialty area of the clinical setting.
  • Must complete medical and compliance requirements as determined by department and/or assigned facility.
