Admission Criteria
Admission decisions are based upon your academic record from your undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study and the competitiveness of the application pool.
- No GRE scores are required.
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) is required for full admission to the program, and 2.75 is required for conditional admission. GPA calculations may be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree. See graduate admission policies for more information.
Application Requirements
Submit an online application, application fee and official transcripts, along with:
- resume
- Required essay: An essay of 500-750 words addressing the following:
- Your academic and/or professional goals, identifying options for a potential course
of study that you intend to pursue in the professional studies program. In this section,
essays should address questions such as:
- What are your academic and/or professional goals?
- Are you aiming to make a career change or obtain credentials to advance in your current career?
- Why would you choose this program to further your studies?
- What kinds of skills or proficiencies are you aiming to gain?
- What kinds of courses would you take while in the program?
- Your academic and/or professional goals, identifying options for a potential course
of study that you intend to pursue in the professional studies program. In this section,
essays should address questions such as:
- How the proposed course of study would build on your prior education, work, or other
experiences. In this section, essays should address questions such as:
- How have your previous experiences (education, work, or other) prepared you to begin this particular course of study?
- Do you have experience in the field you propose to study? If so, describe those experiences. If not, how have you prepared to undertake graduate work in this area?
- How this flexible, individualized program is a good fit to help you achieve your academic
and professional goals. In this section, essays should address the following:
- Why would this individualized, flexible program be better for you than a more structured program in a single discipline?
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
U.S. Immigration requires F1 and J1 students to be enrolled full-time with the majority of their classes taken in-person and on campus.
