Project Director Profile

Colleen Ebacher is Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Towson University. She has taught both undergraduate and graduate student courses in Spanish, culture and civilization of Latin America, Latin American literature, colonial studies, translation, film, women writers, and immigration. Professor Ebacher’s current research is on indigenous responses in text, art and architecture to conquest and colonization, migrant memoirs, translation as well as service-learning.

“Partners in Education — Peru 2025” builds on her long-term experience with study abroad programs, her expertise in directing students through programs of language study, and the relationships she has developed with key personnel and institutions in Piura and Cusco.

Professor Ebacher will spearhead all pre- and post-trip activities as well as in-country arrangements. She is the recipient of several international grants including seven previous highly successful Fulbright-Hays Groups Projects Abroad (2005, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2017, 2023, and 2024) in Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador.

Curriculum Specialist

Ileana Imhoff is a Spanish teacher at Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore City. She has dedicated more than two decades to teaching Spanish language and culture to high school students in the U.S.  She is a native Spanish speaker from Guatemala where she studied and majored in political and social sciences. Her background has informed the topics she teaches in her courses such as: history, politics, and economics in Central America; the economic impact of undocumented immigration in the U.S.; indigenous peoples of the Americas; as well as literature, film, and art.  Ms. Imhoff has also led and supervised curriculum development for K-12 World Language instructors teaching Spanish, French, and Chinese. In addition, she has developed and led four exchange programs for high school students from Baltimore, Maryland to Murcia, Spain. 

Ms. Imhoff participated in “Partners in Education – Peru 2024” providing her with the background and relevant information she needs for her role as a curriculum specialist guiding participants through all aspects of curriculum development requirements pre-, post-trip, and in-country.
