CLA Undergraduate Research Award
The CLA committee will make awards of up to $500 to individual students in support of a research or creative project. Students who apply for the URCI awards will also be considered for the CLA awards and may receive a CLA award even if not nominated for URCI recognition. They will not, however, receive both awards.
General Information
Students may apply for a CLA award to address expenses of a project being carried out during Summer semester.
The applicant may propose support for any direct costs associated with the project apart from the areas of exclusion identified below. For example, requests may be made to cover the costs of materials or supplies, the costs of transportation for repeated trips to an archive or research location, the costs of acquiring research subjects, the costs of copying primary materials for research under appropriate circumstances, the costs of production for a product of the research, the costs of buying or renting equipment or software necessary for the research, and so on. Students and faculty mentors will be responsible for providing receipts to verify expenses when needed for reimbursement. Please note that equipment or software purchased under a grant becomes the property of Towson University and not of the student or faculty member.
The CLA committee will not fund requests for stipend or wages associated with undergraduate research. It will also not fund the costs of the student traveling to a conference or other site to deliver a paper or present a poster based on the research. Please see the URCI site for information on Travel Grants.
