Majors in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, and Art Education can find their assigned adviser name and email address on their Student Dashboard. Students may contact the Art Office at with questions about their advisor.

To ensure that students complete their degree in a timely fashion, Art + Design, Art History, Art Education students are required to meet with their academic adviser each fall and spring term before their enrollment appointment.  However, students are encouraged to contact with their adviser throughout the term whenever they have questions or issues. Advising is necessary for planning a timely progression through a major and concentration, to learn about internships, screening requirements and portfolio development, and to gain perspective and knowledge about careers and opportunities. In addition, advisers lift enrollment holds before enrollment can occur each term.

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education uses e-mail to contact majors and minors about advising, news and events, registration dates, and other topics. Students must use their Towson University e-mail account to stay current with news and announcements.

Freshmen are assigned a First Year Experience (FYE) adviser in the department. Venetia Zachary and Dr Kim Sels serve as FYE advisers. At the end of the second term of the first year, freshmen are assigned an adviser in their major or concentration/track based on the major and concentration/track they formally declare. 

Admitted transfer students are encouraged to meet with their major adviser, to review their transcripts and discuss their interests, within the first month of the new semester at Towson University. Transfer students are assigned an adviser in their major or track by the Art Office at
