Office of the General Counsel

Stephens Hall
Stephens Hall, Towson University

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides timely, pragmatic, and mission-oriented legal advice and representation to the University. OGC also serves as the point of contact for legal inquiries, public records requests, subpoenas, and other forms of legal process directed at the University.

OGC does not provide personal legal advice to students, faculty, or staff members. For the purposes of prosecuting or defending litigation involving the University, the University is represented by the Attorney General of the State of Maryland. Accordingly, OGC works closely with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, Educational Affairs Division.

Each attorney in OGC focuses on specific area of higher education law. For guidance as to which lawyer can best provide assistance to you, please see the Legal Focus Areas.
