The Pledge of the Computing Professional
The Pledge of the Computing Professional is a new organization to promote the notion of computing as a recognized profession at the time of graduation for students in Computer Science and related programs. A graduation “rite of passage” in which graduating students in a computing field acknowledge their moral and ethical responsibilities as they enter the computing profession.
Students take The Pledge as part of a public ceremony and receive a certificate and
visible token to remind them of their responsibilities to the computing profession.
Similar to the Order of the Engineer, there are no meetings, dues, or other responsibilities
after the ceremony. Membership is open to all students graduating in a computing-related
field at a member institution (Towson University).
