Resources for Internships & Employment

Included are resources, tips, job boards, and networks that may help you secure an internship or employment.

Towson University has excellent resources for preparing students for internships and employment through the Career Center. They will help you create a professional resume, find internships or employment, and provide guidance on how to conduct yourself in a professional way.

Steps to take to find employment and internships:

  1. Resumes:
    1. You should have a resume ready and prepared to share with potential employers or internships.
    2. Contact the Career Center, set up an appointment, and use this resource to convey your experience in a professional concise way.
  2. Finding a Position
    1. You can start by searching Handshake for potential positions that may interest you. Don’t be discouraged if what you’re looking for doesn’t show up right away. Contact the Career Center for help with tailoring your job search.
    2. Try checking out the table we have compiled below that includes job boards and organizations that have previously hired Towson University students.
    3. If your dream job doesn’t appear to exist, you can always contact organizations and ask for more information about what they do and where you may look for new opportunities. Be sure to communicate in a professional and respectful manner. You can work with the Career Center on how to bolster professionalism.
  3. Apply!
    1. Remember to submit all the requested information specified in the application description. If you do not include all necessary application materials (e.g., resume, references, etc.) you may not get full consideration. Employers often request references, be sure to use professors and employers who know you well and can speak to your skills and experiences.

Students wishing to find an internship should look at the internship and job resources below. Students wishing to use one of these opportunities to complete ENVS 485, Environmental Internship, can find information and resources on the ENVS 485: Environmental Internship page.
