Environmental Science (Graduate Certificate)

Admission Criteria

  • no GRE scores required
  • baccalaureate degree in a related area — biology, chemistry, geology, or environmental science from a regionally accredited college or university
  • minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) required for full admission to the program, 2.75 required for conditional admission; GPA calculations may be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree (see graduate admission policies for more information)
  • students (without an undergraduate degree in a related area) required to complete the following courses, in consultation with the graduate program director, with a minimum GPA of 2.75:
    • two terms of introductory biology with laboratory
    • two terms of introductory chemistry with laboratory
    • one term of statistics OR one term of calculus

Application Requirements

Submit an online application, application fee and official transcripts, along with:

  • letters of recommendation: two letters of recommendation from individuals who are in a position to evaluate your academic potential in this field (email addresses of recommenders must be entered on application)
  • personal statement: a one page statement in which you discuss your career goals and how this graduate program will help you achieve them
  • resume

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

U.S. Immigration requires F1 and J1 students to be enrolled full-time with the majority of their classes taken in-person and on campus.
