Health Benefits
The State of Maryland provides a generous benefit package to eligible TU employees with a wide range of benefit options that include:
- Medical plans including routine vision services, behavioral health, and a wellness program.
- Prescription drug plan. Prescription drugs are not included in our medical plans. This is a separate freestanding benefit.
- Dental plans
- Term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment plans
- Flexible Spending Accounts
State of Maryland Health Benefits
Benefits run on the Calendar Year (CY). Opportunities to enroll are:
- newly hired employees (effective date 1st of the month following date of hire)
- employees with a life event (see Workday page) such as marriage, birth, divorce, death, loss of coverage, etc. (must be reported within 60 days of event). Life event requires documentation, see documentation info (Workday page)
- open enrollment occurring annually each fall (effective date 1st of the following calendar year)

Prescription Drug Program
The prescription drug program is a free-standing benefit and you must be enrolled in order to participate. Prescription Drugs are not included in the Medical Plans.

2025 is a “Reset” year for Wellness Incentives, which means that you need to complete your wellness activities to earn the incentives in 2025, your rewards continue until 12/31/2026!
