Occupational Therapy Focus

We offer a variety of services for clients with many different diagnoses (Comprehensive adult needs, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke recovery). The sessions may focus on development of daily routines, movement challenges, caregiver training, problem solving for any issues that arise as well as education on adaptive equipment or devices to assist with daily life activities. These sessions can focus on return to daily routines, community integration, work, leisure, strength, endurance, home modifications, and any other issues depending on the diagnosis. The sessions will be for the client as well as the caregiver as needed. 

Occupational Therapy Services

The WISH program is designed for recent or long-term survivors of head injury or stroke who are seeking cost-effective ways to continue their rehabilitation. WISH provides adults with speech, language, and occupational therapy integrated into a variety of daily living activities and movement activities. Students under the supervision of our licensed occupational and speech therapists develop individual client goals and target skills in both group and individual format. Our WISH program meets 2x a week on Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 9:30-12:00 PM. Space is limited.

We offer direct individual adult outpatient occupational therapy services for a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to: Comprehensive Adult Rehab, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke Recovery, Brain Injury, and more. A comprehensive evaluation will be completed prior to start of services to determine client goals and needs. Individual services are billed through BC/BS, Medicare, Medical Assistance, or Self Pay options are available.

The Community Health and Resilience in Parkinson’s group is for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease who wish to maintain their wellness socially, emotionally, and physically. Our program is led by an LSVT Big certified Occupational Therapist, and includes social/emotional support, client and family education, daily life skill training, and a structured high amplitude movement-based exercise program.

Community Health and Resilience in Parkinson’s group meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 pm -3:30 pm at the Institute for Well-Being, located at 7400 York Rd in Towson, MD. Parkinson's Wellness Group Application

 

Support Groups

  • Dedicated to providing education, support, and networking for stroke survivors, caregivers, and their families and friends.
  • Each meeting is targeted to a specific topic but is also open for participants to meet and socialize with each other.
  • The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the Institute for Well-being, from 6:30 pm – 8 pm. The option to have a virtual meeting is available. The meetings are held during the university's semester with one summer meeting typically planned as a social event.

  • This support group is targeted to caregivers of those with stroke or head injury and is a space where concerns can be shared and new information gained. Caregivers can obtain support from each other as they navigate the challenges of caregiving.
  • Each coffee hour is targeted to specific topics which are meant to be supportive and educational.
  • The group has coffee (or other beverages) every second Thursday of the month at the Institute for Well-being, second floor, from 9:30 am – 10:30 am. The meetings are held during the university's semester. Virtual meeting option available.
