“The thing that's special about Towson University is that you really can create your own experience here. I want to work in college athletics and I’m currently working as a marketing intern with the athletics department. I feel like I was able to create what I wanted for myself and an experience that will help me succeed in the next level of my life.”

“You are almost a number at bigger schools. And at smaller schools you don't have the opportunity to get your specialized interests taken care of. But at TU, you can basically point and go while also getting the individualized help and an individualized path carved out for you.”

“I got into the Towson University Honors College, which has given me a lot of opportunities, career-wise. I’ve been able to get great internships, including one with Warner Brothers -Discovery in New York as an ad sales intern. I’ve also been able to build personal relationships with my professors who want me to succeed.”

Elementary Education major from Rockaway, New jersey

“TU is special because of the connections you make. Not only with your peers, but also with the professors on campus. My favorite professor was Laura Ward, my elementary education professor for my field experience last year. She really made sure we were comfortable inside of the classroom and prepared to teach our students.”

Matt Vollmuth '22

Forensic Chemistry major from Mendham, New jersey

“There's only a handful of accredited forensics programs in the country and TU is one of the best. We have a lot of opportunities to get extra experience with lab techniques, which is important because that’s what you do as a forensic chemist. Right now, I’m an organic research student, which has helped me with my track in drug analysis.”

“Something unique I’ve seen in my time at TU is the resources offered to us here. Talking to my friends at other universities, they don’t have a lot of the same opportunities that we do. One that stands out is the Career Center and the programming and help they offer to students.”

“There is such a diverse population that comes from different backgrounds and have a lot of different interests. You can see the diversity in the College of Fine Arts and I appreciate that, especially since I’ve been able to make a lot of great friends and a lot of connections.”

“What’s special to me about Towson University is that everyone comes here and finds where they belong. We have so many different organizations, different communities…everyone finds their place. Everyone is creating and finding their own community at TU.”

“I attended the Spring Career and Internship Fair hosted by the Career Center, and I actually got an internship through a company that I met there, so that was amazing. The company was called Alta Vista, a marketing agency, and it was a great opportunity. I wouldn't have been able to do that without attending something that TU was hosting.”

“The best thing about TU is the inclusivity around campus. The moment I joined the ultimate frisbee team, I felt like they were my family. That’s my advice for incoming students—join clubs and get involved because that lets you be a part of the Towson University community.”

“Towson University, more than other schools that I've seen, puts an emphasis on connecting students with each other. It's really easy to see in all of the orientation events, involvement fairs and other programs, that they're really passionate about the student voice and creating your own opportunities.”
