Software Distribution
The Office of Technology Services can add or update software on your TU-owned computer without requiring administrative access. Faculty and staff can get updates and perform installations on their TU-owned computers using Software Center for Windows or Self Service for Macs.
Windows Computers
Software distribution to Windows computers is performed by Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). SCCM allows OTS to push Windows updates and software while providing self-initiated installations via Software Center.
Software Center allows you to add new programs and update software already installed on your TU computer. See how to use the Software Center to install applications on TU Windows computers.
Software Distribution is only available to campus computers that have the SCCM client installed. All Towson University Windows computers should automatically have the SCCM client installed. If you cannot locate Software Center on your computer, contact the OTS Technology Support Desk.
OTS can distribute new software applications to a group of TU-owned Window Computers. If you would like an application distributed to your team, department or lab, submit a TechHelp service request.
Mac Computers
Software distribution to Mac computers is performed by Jamf Pro. Jamf allows OTS to push new and updated software to TU-owned Macs. It also allows for the automatic installation of MacOS, Microsoft Office and antivirus updates and provides the Self Service app to faculty and staff who use Macs.
Self Service provides easy installation of applications from a central app on your Mac. Learn more about Mac Desktop Management at TU.
