Leadership Opportunities

The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility provides sustained opportunities for students to develop leadership skills related to civic agency, intercultural knowledge, systems knowledge, civic communication, civic action and civic professionalism. All positions include training and a stipend.   

Civic Renewal Fellows 

In this yearlong training program, students explore tools to effectively facilitate community conversations and enact change around important issues. Fellows cultivate individual and collective leadership skills through training in communication, community building, and advocacy. 

The fellowship includes participating in a one-day retreat and weekly training sessions as well as facilitating programs, such as TU Community Conversations

The overall time commitment is approximately 60 hours over the course of the academic year. Fellows receive a stipend. The position is work-study eligible.

Social Action Collaboratory Fellows 

In this yearlong program, students develop community leadership skills and support local organizations in their mission. Students participate in educational workshops highlighting place-based approaches to social change and exploring social justice topics. They also develop peer leadership skills to co-facilitate presentations, coordinate site visits, and lead reflective conversations. 

The fellowship includes participating in a one-day retreat and weekly training sessions as well as guiding peers through community-based learning.  

The overall time commitment is approximately 60 hours over the course of the academic year. Fellows receive a stipend. The position is work-study eligible.

TU Votes Ambassadors 

In this leadership program, students passionate about engaging their peers in the voting process receive training to be knowledgeable about voting procedures for college students and able to serve as a resource to their peers. 

The position includes participating in a one-day retreat and weekly training sessions as well as supporting voter education programs and the TU Votes Coalition.  

The overall time commitment is approximately 40-50 hours over the course of the fall semester during Presidential and Midterm Election years. This paid position is for work-study eligible students.
