Learn more about what to expect for the academic year

Towson University is ready to welcome more than 19,000 students to campus, including the largest incoming class since 2019.

Here is what students need to know before they arrive.

Move-In Information

On-campus residents are required to sign up for a specific, one-hour check-in window from Aug. 24–27 between the hours below:

— Wednesday, Aug. 24: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for new students last name A through M

— Thursday, Aug. 25: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. for new students, last name N through Z

We anticipate a high volume of students moving in on Aug. 24. If students can adjust their plans, Housing & Residence Life will open time slots on Aug. 25 to those designated to move-in on Aug. 24. Those arriving a day later can expect to experience less congestion and a speedier move-in.

— Friday, Aug. 26: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for continuing students

— Saturday, Aug. 27: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for continuing students

Centralized Check-In

On arrival all students must check in during their designated time slot at South Campus Pavilion on Auburn Drive near the Towson University Athletic Complex.

Here students will receive their room key and officially check into their housing assignment.

Students may not bring more than two move-in helpers, and the student must be the only one who checks in. Towson University will also provide help through the student-led “Move-In Crew.”

Students can now purchase their fall 2022 term parking permits. You must be registered for classes and have your housing assignment (if applicable) before a permit can be purchased.

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. On most weekdays, the Towsontown, Glen and Union garages are full by 10 a.m. The lots near the stadium complex have ample parking, and free shuttle services are available.

All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit during enforcement hours: Monday–Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Update of the CHP Building Construction
(Alex Wright / Towson University)

Towson University is continuing to grow, and there are plenty of changes on campus.

Probably the biggest is the updated University Union. “A Brand-New U” will be completed this fall. This renovation joins the 85,000-square-foot addition that opened last fall that added new dining and event space options.

The College of Health Professions Building is rising between Newell Hall and the College of Liberal Arts building. It will open summer 2024 and feature state-of-the-art facilities that will help TU meet the critical demand for health care professionals.

The new Academic Commons in Cook Library is a one-stop destination for academic support services, including research, writing, tutoring, advising and testing. Located on the library’s third floor, it will centralize services that were previously located throughout campus and make student support more accessible and convenient.

And following a one-year renovation, students will move into Tower C this fall. Residents will enjoy new interior finishes, windows, HVAC systems, utility infrastructure and exterior terracotta cladding. It’s a glimpse of what’s to come for the Glen Complex, which will be redone to match Tower C’s contemporary feel and more sustainable, efficient function. Tower B is up next and will be offline through summer 2023.

  • The Counseling Center’s services include self-help programs, massage chairs, peer support, wellness workshops, meditation services, support groups, therapy groups, same-day mental health consultations, solution-focused support and referral services.
  • The Health Center provides health and wellness services for all registered students. They can log into the Tiger Health Portal to manage records, make appointments and more.
  • The Center for Student Diversity (CSD) provides advocacy and support for under-represented and marginalized populations and creates a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
  • The Career Center not only connects students with potential employers, they help students prepare for an interview and perfect their resume, sometimes through one-on-one career counseling.
