8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
All Residential Communities close at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22. All students must vacate their buildings with all of their belongings by this time. Door access will turn off at 9 a.m. on May 22.
Students must make necessary travel arrangements to ensure they vacate their residence hall 24 hours after their final exam or before 9 a.m. on May 22, whichever comes first.
Anyone still in the building after 9 a.m. without prior permission will be fined $175 and will be asked to leave immediately. More information about the late departure policy is available below.
Before leaving, students must:
Sign the closing door signs upon vacating your space. Door signs will be attached to room doors by RA staff. We ask residents not to remove these closing door signs. Lastly you will need to formally check out and turn in key(s) at the Community Center desk.
Residents are expected to leave their room in the same condition as found upon move in. When a resident checks out of their room, Housing and Residence Life professional staff will inspect the space. Issues or concerns identified will first be compared to the Room Condition Report on file to determine if they were pre-existing. Any repairs caused by intentional/egregious damage, lack of cleaning, missing furnishings, removal of abandoned property, and missing keys/re-cores will be assessed during this inspection and charged to the student's account. Vandalism may also be reported to the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices.
The Housing and Residence Life professional team makes every attempt to attribute damage and vandalism charges to the individual(s) responsible, but when those responsible are not identified, all members of a unit, room, or floor may be charged equally for damages. It is our hope that affected residents will cooperate with the Housing and Residence Life professional team to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
Before leaving for break periods, we ask residents to help us save energy by setting their thermostats. To provide the best guidance, residents can find their thermostat setting instructions linked below.
Any resident who has not left the residence halls by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 deadline will be subject to a $175 fine, which will be assessed to their student account.
Only residents who have been granted advanced permission in writing by Housing and Residence Life professional staff will be allowed to stay past the deadline without being fined.
Residents who need to remain past the 9 a.m. closing time will need to complete a Late Stay Request Form within the Student Housing Gateway by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 12.
Late Stay Requests will only be approved for the following reasons:
Residents can direct any questions about their late stay request to the Residence Life Coordinator of their respective community.
