Snippets & Components
Snippets and components are two ways to add visual interest to a webpage.
Using the appropriate snippet and component for the intended page region is critical because each is coded to resize within each given region to fit a user's device (mobile phone, tablet, laptop).
What’s the Difference between Snippets and Components?
The main difference between snippets and components is how you, as a web editor, edit them. Snippets can be placed on a webpage and edited by content contributors and content owners. When adding and editing snippets you work within a given page region and edit rows of content within a tabular display while in edit mode.
Components can only be added to the page by Digital Strategy (email digitalstrategy AT_TOWSON to request a component) and are edited by filling out a modal form.
Placement on a Webpage
Design snippets and components must be placed in specific regions of the page:
It’s important to place the snippet (or component) in the area of a page for which it was intended. Design elements added to the “wrong” region will not function properly.
