NODA Intern

Each year, New Student and Family Programs participates in the internship program through NODA: The Association for Orientation, Retention, and Transition in Higher Education. Our interns go on to successful careers in higher education, including many former interns who stay in the orientation/transition/retention field and the local region.

"During my time at Towson I worked with some of the most qualified and skilled professionals I had ever met and I was able to have autonomy in the role to create projects and experiences that I felt would bring value to student leaders and incoming students. This internship pushed me to think creatively, strategically and to be disciplined in my work all while having fun, enjoying the day to day, and being proud to be a part of the NSFP team." -Tsering Chophel, Residence Hall Director at New York University, NODA Intern 2021

"I learned the importance of accountability and consistency. Supervising students can be tricky and if you haven't had the experience before, but an internship is the best way to get a taste of what it's like. The students at Towson were wonderful overall, but it showed me that feedback is important, and to treat each student individually with their needs." -Kelli Murray, Director of Orientation & Transition Programs at University of Delaware, NODA Intern 2017

"My summer there had such an impact on my growth both professionally and personally. I was able to build strong connections and create the experience I wanted. I was able to work with Gail and the NSFP staff to make sure that the goals I set were being met, and I was having a positive experience. These connections also lasted much further than just during the summer, the NSFP staff continued to support me where they could throughout my second year of grad school and into the job search which I was so thankful for. Beyond the internship itself at TU, I also enjoyed getting to explore Baltimore and the surrounding cities. I was also thankful to get to the connect with the interns at UMBC to have other people and friends to share in the experience with. I was not only able to experience Towson but a glimpse into life in Baltimore as well. That summer pushed me to learn, grow, and experience so much more than I could have ever imagined and am so thankful for everything I was able to gain through it!" -Kate Thibodeaux, Transition Coordinator for Orientation and Transition Programs at Colorado State University, NODA Intern 2022
