About the Program:

The educational objectives of the program are to advance students’ language skills in Spanish to the Advanced level of oral and written proficiency and beyond, to further the students’ Hispanic cultural competence, to expose students to second language and language variety, and to prepare a highly skilled and competitive workforce that can work with and serve a diverse population.

BEGINNER LEVEL

For students entering at the beginner level, the following prerequisite courses are required:   

  • SPAN 510 - Accelerated Beginner Spanish
  • SPAN 520 - Accelerated Intermediate Spanish

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

For students entering at the intermediate level, the following prerequisite course is required:

  • SPAN 520 - Accelerated Intermediate Spanish

CORE PROGRAM COURSES for ALL STUDENTS:

All students complete the following sequence of courses for the Graduate Certificate in Professional Spanish: 

  • SPAN 591 - Advanced Grammar
  • SPAN 608 - Spanish in the Community
  • SPAN 602 - Linguistic Diversity in the Spanish-Speaking World
  • SPAN 609 - Spanish Translation
  • SPAN 680 - Hispanic Cultures in the Media

Reduced Program Costs

  • Through a contractual agreement with your employer, tuition for courses are significantly reduced.
  • The TU application fee of $50 is waived.
  • Participants are responsible for purchasing course texts.
